When in Mexico, Tindi leads by example, living in an ecological community, where the food is homegrown and everything is powered by solar energy. Born in Espírito Santo, Brazil, Raynara Negrine was scouted at the age of 14. After participating in Joy Model’s ‘Look of the Year’ contest in 2018, she placed top in the country leading her to dominate São Paulo fashion week establishing herself with Brazilian designers. Raynara made her international debut at the Chanel Haute Couture Spring 21 show in Paris followed by an impressive FW21 season: Proenza Schouler styled by Brian Molloy, Kim Jone's Fendi styled by Melanie Ward and opening Del Core styled by Carlos Nazario.

After years of epic Chanel show spectacles in the vast Grand Palais, now closed for renovations, the brand’s artistic director Virginie Viard felt that the time was right for a totally different ambiance to showcase her playful Coco Neige collection. “I wanted to show in a small place, a club,” Viard explained during a Zoom preview. “I don’t like big rave venues; I prefer that kind of place that is more intimate. Karl was always telling me about the shows he staged in the ’70s with the girls getting dressed on their own in a restaurant in Paris,” she added.

“Who doesn’t want to be a badass?” Tom Ford’s fall 2021 notes read. “Especially after being trapped at home for a year.” Ford may be one of the most famous names in fashion, but he’s experienced the complications of pandemic lockdowns just like the rest of us. The chairman of the CFDA had the closing spot on New York Fashion Week’s abridged virtual schedule this season but was forced to postpone the delivery of these images twice due to circumstances related to COVID. Ford lives in Los Angeles now, but his design studio is still in London, which adds a layer of complexity to his situation.

Gabriela Hearst was talking up Hildegard of Bingen on a Zoom call. A writer, composer, philosopher, mystic, and Benedictine abbess, Hildegard was a regular Renaissance woman, except that she predated the Renaissance by about two centuries. “I’m convinced,” Hearst said, “that if she had been a man we’d know her name like we do Leonardo da Vinci’s.” In fact, Hildegard sketched a Universal Man, not unlike Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man, only hers was completed 300 years earlier. Rather belatedly Pope Benedict XVI made her a Doctor of the Church in 2012.
